Third Wave Psychotherapy

Free Live Training · April 23

You Completed the Training.
Now Build the Framework.

Most supervisors complete their required training and still find themselves second-guessing in more complex situations. It's not a lack of preparation. It's that real-world supervision demands a practical framework that formal training alone doesn't always provide. Join Dr. Marie Agius, Executive Director at Third Wave Psychotherapy, for a free live training where she'll share the framework she uses to guide clinical standards and mentorship within the practice.

For licensed clinicians who are already supervising, considering stepping into a supervisory role, or looking to strengthen their approach with a more structured foundation.

Does This Sound Familiar?

You completed your training. You got approved. You meet your requirements.

But the harder calls still feel different from anything the classroom prepared you for.

You completed your required training hours, got approved by your board, and stepped into the supervisory role with strong clinical skills. But there's a difference between understanding supervision in theory and having a practical framework to rely on when a real situation gets complex.

When a gatekeeping decision needs to be made, when an ethical question arrives without a clean answer, or when a supervisee crosses a line and you need to respond clearly and confidently, you're often relying on instinct instead of a structured way to think it through.

You know you're capable. But capable and structured are two different things. The supervisors who handle complex situations well aren't more experienced than you. They're more structured. They have a clear foundation to rely on when it matters most.

You're conscientious, experienced, and genuinely committed to doing this right. Your training gave you the foundation.

What comes next is a practical framework that turns "I think this is right" into "I know this is the standard."

This training helps you build that framework.

In 60 Minutes, You'll Walk Away With Clarity

Not abstract theory. A practical framework grounded in how supervision actually works across real agencies, private practices and community mental health settings.

01

Your Role, Defined

A clear definition of your role and responsibilities. What is and is not your job, and why that distinction matters more than most supervisors realize.

02

Supervision vs. Therapy

A framework for understanding how supervision differs from therapy, mentoring and consultation so you can hold the boundaries of the role with confidence instead of blurring them under pressure.

03

Session Structure

A structure for running supervision sessions intentionally so you're not defaulting to case consultation only or winging the format every time.

04

Ethical Decision-Making

A practical ethical approach you can apply when a supervisee brings you a complex or gray-area situation and you need more than instinct to stand behind your response.

05

Common Supervision Mistakes

Clarity on the supervision mistakes even experienced clinicians make and how to get ahead of them before they create ethical, relational or liability problems.

06

Immediate Application

A framework you can apply in your very next supervision session, with a downloadable PDF reference to keep in your notes.

Beyond the
Training Hours

Most supervisors complete their required training and still find themselves second-guessing the harder calls. Not because they weren't prepared. But because there's a difference between completing training requirements and having a practical framework to rely on when the pressure is on.

Knowing what supervision involves and confidently applying it when a real supervisee is sitting across from you struggling, pushing back, or not developing the way you expected are two very different things.

That gap between training and application is where most supervisors feel it most.

But it doesn't have to stay that way.

The supervisors who feel steady in complex situations aren't always more experienced than you. They've built a more structured approach to making these decisions.

They have a clear foundation to rely on when it matters most.

They built that foundation before they needed it.

You met the requirement. Now build the framework that makes it count.

Strengthening your approach isn't a sign you're unqualified. It's exactly what qualified supervisors do.

Meet Dr. Marie
Agius

PhD · LCMHCS · CCS · LCAS · LPC (SC)

Dr. Marie Agius is a licensed clinical mental health counselor supervisor, certified clinical supervisor, and Executive Director of Third Wave Psychotherapy in North Carolina, where she helps guide the practice's clinical standards, supervision culture, and professional development of its clinicians.

She has spent more than 17 years supervising therapists across outpatient, inpatient, and community behavioral health settings, holding multiple clinical leadership roles including clinic co-director and clinical operations director.

Over the years, she has supervised clinicians through imposter syndrome, boundary questions, dual relationships, and gray-area situations that rarely have clear textbook answers. Through that experience, she noticed a common pattern: clinicians stepping into supervisory roles while already carrying a heavy clinical and leadership load, but without a practical framework for the specific demands that supervision requires.

This training was created to help bridge that gap by offering practical guidance that clinicians can immediately apply in their supervision work. The framework comes directly from the supervision work she continues to do with clinicians at Third Wave Psychotherapy.

Her work has consistently centered on helping clinicians navigate the real-world complexity of clinical work while staying grounded in strong ethical practice.

This training is part of Third Wave's commitment to supporting clinicians through thoughtful, practical education.

No. This training is designed for licensed mental health clinicians across disciplines, including licensed clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors, licensed marriage and family therapists, psychologists, and others in supervisory roles. Training requirements for supervisors vary by discipline and state. Whether your field requires formal supervision training or not, this framework will strengthen your approach.
This training was built for you. You'll walk away with a clear foundation before the situations that test it arise, which is exactly when supervision training is most effective.
Many experienced supervisors find this training just as helpful. It often gives language and structure to things you've been doing intuitively and helps surface gaps you may not have noticed. Most seasoned supervisors finish the training and immediately identify one or two things they want to do differently.
This framework was built from supervisory experience across all of those settings. The core responsibilities of clinical supervision, including ethical gatekeeping, supervisee development and client welfare, remain consistent across contexts. The examples and application in this training reflect that range.
After the training, all registrants will receive an email with a link to the recording and a short post-training quiz. Complete the quiz to receive your free continuing education credit. This applies whether you attend live or watch the recording.
Register anyway. We'll send the full recording to everyone who signs up. But if you can make it live, we'd love to have you in the room.
